Woman Killed In Fridley Apt. Fire ID'd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A woman who died after firefighters pulled her from a burning Fridley apartment building has been identified.

Police said the fire broke out around 5:42 a.m. Saturday morning in the 1600 block of 73rd Avenue Northeast.

According to police, crews believe the fire may have started in the kitchen of a third-story apartment. The fire was contained in that one apartment.

Firefighters had to rescue several people, including the 24-year-old woman who was found unresponsive in an apartment engulfed in flames.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, the victim, identified as Jacarra King, died at the hospital shortly after arriving.

Two Fridley police officers were treated for smoke inhalation.

The Fridley Fire Department, Fridley Police Department and Anoka County Sheriff's Office are continuing to investigate.
