Woman In Custody After Firing Gun In Her Inver Grove Heights Home

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) -- A woman is in police custody Thursday evening after officers surrounded a home in Inver Grove Heights.

According to a press release from the Inver Grove Police Department, officers responded to a report of a distraught female on the 6900 block of Claude Avenue at around 3:00 p.m. Upon arrival, police determined the 50-year-old woman fired a gun in the house.

Officers formed a perimeter around the house to contain the incident, and placed nearby Hilltop Elementary on lockdown as a precaution, in case any students had left for the day. Police also told nearby neighbors to shelter in place, and some residents were evacuated.

More than two hours later, police were able to contact the woman and she came outside, where she was taken into custody.
