Woman, 24, Pleads Guilty To Criminal Vehicular Homicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 24-year-old Brainerd woman admitted Monday to driving under the influence of alcohol last October when she hit and killed a bicyclist, the Cass County Attorney's Office says.

Kerri Marie Zelinske entered a guilty plea of criminal vehicular homicide in the death of 57-year-old Leonard Grabowski on Oct. 10, 2013. Zelinske was driving south on County Road 70 near East Gull Lake when she collided with Grabowski, who was traveling north on the same road.

Sentencing guidelines for call for a prison sentence of 48 months. However, Zelinske's plea agreement calls for a 41-month sentence in exchange for her taking responsibility. She may yet request a lesser sentence, the attorney's office said.

Zelinske is slated to be sentenced on Feb. 27.
