The Wolves released this statement Thursday night: "We are aware of the alleged report regarding Taurean Prince and are in the process of gathering more information."

According to police in Arlington, Texas, the warrant stems from a traffic stop made on May 19. Police say an officer stopped Prince's vehicle due to expired registration. Prince told the officer that he had two handguns, which he gave to officers after getting out of the vehicle.

Police say the officer observed a vape pen with what appeared to be THC oil in the car, so a search was done of the vehicle, and a canister with marijuana inside was then found.

"Under Texas law, it's illegal to carry a gun while engaging in a criminal offense. Because suspected illegal substances were found in his vehicle, we arrested Mr. Prince for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and Possession of Marijuana <2oz," police said in a statement.

Furthermore, police said the suspected illegal substance was tested and confirmed to be marijuana, so an additional charge was filed -- possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram -- which is a state felony in Texas.

Prince signed a two-year, $16 million extension in June.
