With 11-0 Start, Minnesota Basketball Fans Catching Lynx Fever

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Lynx are proving why they're the best in the WNBA.

Tuesday night, they broke their own record for the longest start of an undefeated season. The Lynx beat the Indiana Fever 87-63 at Target Center. They've now won 11 straight to start the season, a new team and league record.

And it was the fifth consecutive game where Minnesota had at least four players score in double digits.

A lot of people are taking notice, saying the Lynx are finally giving Minnesota sports fans something to cheer about. The Lynx, at 11-0, are looking unstoppable on the court. These athletes are taking nothing for granted, working hard and playing smart.

While Lynx fans are doing all the celebrating, thankful the state has a winning sports team.

"They got the heart, they got the commitment and they got the experience," said a Lynx fan.

And they're off to a perfect start, 11-0. Right now, this Minnesota team is looking unbeatable.

"I think it's the best ticket in town," said Sy Huff.

It's no secret the Minnesota Lynx are the most successful of all of the state's pro-teams. Even men who consider themselves pick-up basketball stars believe in the power of the Lynx.

"Everybody plays their part, everybody plays a role. It's a great team," said David Green.

Green says he loves the depth of this year's squad.

"When you can depend on your bench that gives the starters a good mind set so they can rest, that they can rely on their bench so that when they come back it's in overdrive," Green said.

That 11-0 start proves the Lynx have been in overdrive since the season started.

"I think it's a fantastic start and I hope it continues because I want to see them go all the way once again," said a Lynx fan.

Three WNBA championships in five season has Lynx fans wanting more.

"This organization has raised the bar not just for our Minnesota organizations but across the league, this is expected of us now," Huff said.

For five years, Sy Huff has worked as an announcer for the Lynx. He's says it fun to watch this team continue to build a dynasty.

Huff says it only takes watching them play once to catch an incurable case of Lynx fever.

"They are phenomenal athletes. Those women are great basketball players and once you get into the game here at the Target Center, it's not about women's basketball or men's basketball. It's really about great basketball," Huff said.

The Lynx are just two games away from their team record of 13 straight wins. No matter how you look at, the Minnesota Lynx are winners and right now the jewel of all Minnesota sports teams.

The Lynx go for 12-0 on Sunday when they take on the Seattle Storm.
