Turtle Lake Man Dies 11 Days After Motorcycle Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 36-year-old Turtle Lake, Wis., man seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash in western Wisconsin earlier this month died from his injuries last Friday, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities were called at about 6:32 p.m. on May 9 about a single vehicle motorcycle crash on the 1700 block of County Road T in the Town of Beaver. When officers arrived, the accident did not have any witnesses but an investigation showed the motorcycle was heading north on County Road T when the crash happened. The motorcycle left a long skid mark before crashing, but authorities say it's not known why the driver tried to stop.

Officers found the motorcycle in the roadway, with the driver in the road a short distance away. The driver, identified as Michael Hagman, was transported to a hospital with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries. Last Friday, 10 days after the crash, Hagman died of his injuries.

Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol is suspected of being a factor in the crash. It's the fourth traffic fatality in Polk County this year.
