Wis. Widower's 4-Mile Tribute To Wife Goes Viral

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Wisconsin man's public tribute to his wife has gone viral.

Babbette Jaquish had a love of sunflowers. She passed away last November after a nine-year battle with cancer.

This spring, her husband Don planted almost 400 acres of sunflowers for her in Eau Claire, creating a four-mile tribute along Highway 85.

He said his wife was known as "the Sunflower Lady" because she loved them so much.

Video and pictures of the sunflowers have become a hit on the Internet.

Their daughter, Jennifer White, said the family is humbled by the response. She said her mother would be very happy with all of this.

The family even started a website called Babbette's Seeds of Hope. The charity will be selling bags of sunflower seeds with the proceeds going to hospitals and research.
