ASPCA: 48 Dogs Rescued From Grim Wisconsin Puppy Mill

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Forty-eight Labrador Retrievers were seized Friday from an unlicensed breeder in western Wisconsin, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office arrested the owner, who will face charges for animal mistreatment, not proving enough food for confined animals and improper sheltering. Several dead dogs were also found on the property in Elmwood.

The ASPCA says 35 adult dogs and 13 puppies have been brought the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley, where they will all receive medical treatment.

The dogs will not be available for adoption for a while, as they are considered evidence in the criminal investigation.
