Wis. Police: Driver Under The Influence Had 7-Year-Old Passenger

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- Janesville police are recommending child neglect charges and other counts against a man found passed out behind the wheel with a 7-year-old child in the vehicle.

Authorities say police roused the 34-year-old man and he resisted arrest, injuring an officer trying to take him in custody Sunday evening at a Woodman's gas station. The officer was treated and released at a hospital.

Officers obtained a search warrant for a blood draw after the man refused to submit to one.

The man was also arrested on tentative charges of operating under the influence, possessing narcotics and resisting an officer causing injury.
