Wis. Man Says Thank You To Plow Driver Who Saved His Life

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A northern Wisconsin man whose life was saved during one of the season's extreme blizzards recently got the chance to say thank you to his rescuers.

Bob Benson began having severe chest pains during a February storm in Superior, Wis. His wife, Sue, tried to drive them to the hospital, but got stuck in the driveway.

And when the ambulance came, it also got stuck.

Then, Craig Plummer, a county snowplow driver, showed up to save the day.

"The roads were horrible," he said. "It was tough to get there, even driving myself to work and then when I got there, the roads were pretty impassable."

It turns out Benson was having a heart attack known as the "widow maker".

Plummer went into work an hour earlier that night.

Doctors credit that, along with his quick response, for Benson's survival.
