Wis. Man Accused Of Trying To Kill Woman, Toddler

LA CRESCENT, Minn. (AP) — Prosecutors have charged a 27-year-old Wisconsin man with trying to kill a woman and toddler at a Minnesota intersection.

The La Crosse Tribune reports Sean Kasten of Ettrick was charged Thursday with multiple counts including attempted murder, assault and animal mistreatment.

According to a criminal complaint, witnesses said they heard a car screech to halt in La Crescent on Tuesday. A woman jumped out screaming. Kasten got out of the car and collapsed. Police found him, the woman, a 3-year-old child and a pit bull all covered in blood.

The woman said she was giving Kasten a ride when he started to act strangely and stabbed her. He also stabbed the child and dog, who were in the backseat, and himself.

It wasn't clear if Kasten has an attorney.
