Wisconsin Apple Harvest Begins Early

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- They already started picking apples this week in Door County, Wisconsin.

SweeTango apples, a cross between Honeycrisp and Zestar, were ready to harvest at some Wisconsin orchards. The SweeTango is among the newest varieties created by researchers at the University of Minnesota.

An orchard owner that spoke with WCCO credits timely rain showers and a warm summer with a very successful crop.

While the SweeTangos are ready now, do not expect Honeycrisp apples until later in the month.
