Wis. Town Works To End Bullying By Fining Parents

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Many kids face bullying and sometimes it can be very hard to stop.

Now, a Wisconsin town has a new idea: fine the bully's parents.

The city council in Shawano passed a new anti-bullying ordinance. Under the new ordinance, police will warn parents if their child is involved in bullying.

The parent has 90 days to address the bullying.

If police think their kid hasn't stopped the bad behavior, the parent will be issued a $366 fine.

A couple of other Wisconsin cities have a similar ordinance and city leaders said it's making a positive impact.
