Wintry Weather Arrives Ahead Of Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Winter weather has arrived with a bang, and ahead of schedule, with more than a foot of snow on the ground in some parts of Minnesota.

Rush City in Chisago County is buried under 15 inches of fresh snow. Princeton in Isanti County is dealing with 14½ inches and St. Cloud in Stearns County has a foot.

There were a lot of schools with 2-hour delays Tuesday morning, including St. Cloud, Princeton and Melrose. The Minnesota Department of Transportation's website shows that roads and highways in about two-thirds of the state are completely or partially covered with snow.

Forecasters say round two of the storm will bring frigid temperatures which should stay below freezing for the remainder of the week.
