Sheriff: Driver Sought In Willmar Crash That Hurt Woman, 3 Kids

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are looking for a driver after a woman and her three children were hurt in a single-vehicle crash near Willmar on Saturday.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened at about 10:49 p.m. at the intersection of County Roads 8 and 35. While officers were responding, authorities received a report that the driver of the vehicle fled on foot into a cornfield near the crash site. The woman and children were still in the vehicle.

Officers arrived on scene and requested a State Patrol helicopter to search for the driver, who was not located. The vehicle, a 2000 white Dodge Caravan, matched the description for a vehicle with three separate driving complaints earlier in the day in Willmar and an additional complaint just south of Willmar on Highway 71.

The 29-year-old woman was identified as the mother of the three children. All four were taken to a hospital with injuries, but the extent was not known. The Kandiyohi County Sherriff's Office is investigating what led up to the crash.
