Wild Sign 1st-Round Pick Eriksson Ek To 3-Year Deal

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Wild have signed first-round draft pick Joel Eriksson Ek to a three-year, entry level contract.

The deal was done on Monday.

Eriksson Ek was drafted by the Wild last month with the 20th overall pick.

The 18-year-old center played 34 games with Farjestad in the Swedish Hockey League during the 2014-15 season, tallying four goals and two assists. His six points were the most in that league by any Under-18 eligible player. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound native of Karlstad, Sweden, also played 25 games for Farjestad's junior team in 2014-15. His 21 goals led the Under-20 league.

Eriksson Ek also had five goals and one assist in five games for Sweden at the Under-18 World Championship in April.
