Wild G Dubnyk Named NHL's First Star Of The Week

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – The Minnesota Wild announced Monday that goalie Devan Dubnyk has been named the NHL's First Star of the Week after a pair of shutout wins last week.

Dubnyk made 24 saves last Tuesday as the Wild got a dominating 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at Xcel Energy Center. He followed that up with 18 saves Saturday as the Wild beat the Colorado Avalanche 1-0 for their fifth straight win since the NHL All-Star break.

Since being acquired by the Wild in a trade for a draft choice on Jan. 15, Dubnyk is 7-1 in nine games, eight starts, with a 1.31 goals against average, a .948 save percentage and four shutouts. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, he's the fastest goaltender to post four shutouts with a team since the 1967-68 season.

Since being traded, he's first in the NHL in shutouts, tied for the top spot in wins, second in save percentage and fourth in goals against average.
