Wilcox, Fasching Earn Big Ten Honors After Sweep

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After earning a sweep in conference play last weekend against Michigan at Mariucci Arena, the University of Minnesota men's hockey team had two players earn league honors on Tuesday.

Goalie Adam Wilcox was named the Big Ten First Star of the Week after making 63 saves on 67 shots in two wins over the Wolverines. Wilcox made 35 saves in a 5-3 win last Friday and followed it up with 28 saves Saturday in a 4-1 win to complete the sweep. Wilcox is second in the nation for the No. 2-ranked Gophers with 20 wins.

Hudson Fasching was name the Big Ten Second Star of the Week with three points against the Wolverines. He scored in Friday's win and had a goal and an assist in Saturday's victory. Fasching is tied for the league lead in rookie scoring with 11 goals and has 24 points on the year.

Minnesota (21-4-5, 10-2-2) is off this weekend before hosting Penn State Feb. 28 and March 1 at Mariucci Arena.
