Wiggins Earns 3rd Straight Rookie Of The Month Award

MINNNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Wednesday that Andrew Wiggins has been named the NBA's Western Conference Rookie of the Month for January.

It's the third straight month Wiggins has won the award. He's the only rookie in franchise history to win the honor multiple times and the first rookie to win it three straight months since Damian Lillard in the 2012-13 season.

Wiggins led all rookies in scoring (19.8 points per game), field goal percentage (47.1 percent) and minutes played at more than 38 per game. He scored more than 20 points nine times in 17 starts over the month of January. That stretch included five straight games to start the month.

His 33-point effort against Cleveland matched a team record for the most points by a rookie teenager in Minnesota with Kevin Garnett and Stephon Marbury. It fell two short of Christian Laettner's franchise-record 35 points.
