Western Wisconsin Man Charged With Killing Girlfriend

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — Authorities in La Crosse County of western Wisconsin have charged a Holmen man in the death of his girlfriend.

The criminal complaint charges 29-year-old Bryce Anderson with first-degree intentional homicide. The complaint alleges he struck her in the head with a hammer before slicing her neck with a box cutter Sunday morning, then texted a picture of the woman's body to another man.

The La Cross Tribune reports Kristen Johnson ended their turbulent relationship last week.

WXOW-TV reports police found her body in their home Monday night in the back of a vehicle in their garage. Anderson was arrested Tuesday morning in Jones County of Iowa.

It wasn't immediately clear when Anderson would be extradited back to Wisconsin. Online court records don't list a defense attorney for him yet.
