CDC: 2 Cases Of West Nile Virus In Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – At least two blood donors in Minnesota have tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

The donors did not know they had the virus in advance, the CDC said.

West Nile was previously detected in birds and mosquitoes this summer.

Last year, Minnesota saw more than 65 cases of West Nile across the state.

West Nile is most common in central and western Minnesota, according to the CDC, and late summer is when most cases occur.
