West Nile Virus Detected In Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- West Nile Virus is back in Minnesota.

The Metropolitan Mosquito Control says a mosquito sample collected in Scott County tested positive for the virus this week.

So far, there are no human cases of the virus in the state.

Most people who get West Nile don't have any symptoms, but some will develop a fever and other flu-like symptoms.

Officials say the virus typically shows up in mosquito samples and birds at this time of year.

The wet conditions, followed by hot weather, can boost the mosquito species that spreads the virus.
