Weekend Donations To Salvation Army To Be Triple-Matched

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – As the holiday season nears its end, the Salvation Army says donations to the organization this weekend will be tripled.

On Friday and Saturday, all donations put in kettles, called in or entered online will be triple-matched up to $1.5 million, the organization says.

"This triple match comes at a critical time for us," Twin Cities Commander Major Jeff Strickler said in a statement. "This is crunch time to make sure we have enough money to fund our programs all year round."

The money for the triple match comes from individual and corporate donors, with $250,000 coming from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation.

So far this year, the Salvation Army says it's raised $5 million in its Christmas Campaign. The goal is $11.6 million.
