WCHA Women's Coaches Pick Gophers To Win Title

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota is the preseason pick by WCHA women's coaches to win the conference this season.

The WCHA announced the preseason poll Tuesday. The Gophers, who were beaten by Clarkson in the NCAA championship game last season, are the reigning WCHA regular season and playoff champions.

Wisconsin was picked second, followed by Minnesota Duluth, North Dakota, Ohio State, Minnesota State, Bemidji State and St. Cloud State.

Gophers junior forward Hannah Brandt was voted the WCHA preseason player of the year.

The national preseason poll was also announced Tuesday by USA Hockey. The Gophers were first, Wisconsin was second and North Dakota was eighth.
