WCCO Saturday Morning Links (March 12)
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Take advantage of this fantastic, early spring weather we're having and get out to the events Natalie Nyhus and Mike Augustyniak covered on WCCO 4 News Saturday Morning!
There are just a couple weekends left to check out the Spring Parade of Homes. With more than 500 new and remodeled homes, there is plenty to see this year. Homes are spread out across Minnesota, from down in Faribault to up in Cambridge – and even a few in western Wisconsin. The parade goes from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It runs Thursdays through Sundays until March 20.
LuckyPalooza is back for a second year in St. Paul. There are three outdoor tent parties, extreme sports stunts sponsored by Red Bull, a live DJ and food and drinks. Eight bars and restaurants along West 7th Street are also taking part. It runs Saturday from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., before the party moves inside to the bars. No need for tickets, entry is free. Metro Transit is also offering free rides if you download a pass here.
It is a sport that has been gaining popularity across Minnesota. And fitting for this climate -- it is on the ice. The USA Curling College Championships continue Saturday and Sunday at the Chaska Curling Center. The University of Minnesota's team competes Saturday at noon against Yale. Sixteen teams in all will be there, and it is free to watch. Click here for the game schedule.
You can see more than 500 vehicles from 37 foreign and domestic brands this weekend at the Twin Cities Auto Show. It features new models in every category, from compacts and family sedans to the latest in SUVs and luxury cars. There are also meet-and-greets with local celebrities, like Ricky Rubio and Nordy from the Minnesota Wild. The Auto Show is at the Minneapolis Convention Center through next Sunday. Tickets are $10 for those 16 and older. Teens get in for $6.
And Stillwater has always been a recreation destination -- all year round. But in Mike's Mix this week, Mike Augustyniak goes to a bar and restaurant that is drawing people from Minneapolis and St. Paul for the food and cocktails alone -- LoLo American Kitchen and Craft Bar. Mike will actually be bartending there Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. at a fundraiser. There is a $20 cover charge, but proceeds from special cocktails and raffle items will benefit YouthLink MN, which helps homeless youth. LoLo will be opening a full-service location at Gate E of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport later this year.
