WCCO Helps Donate Big Check To Gillette Children's Specialty

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- WCCO-TV was happy to be a part of a big donation for Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare Friday morning.

WCCO general manager Brien Kennedy handed over the big check on behalf of WCCO-TV, "Wheel of Fortune" and Walmart.

As part of a contest on "Wheel of Fortune," viewers at home had a chance to win along with the contestants on TV. Those winnings were matched with donations to a Children's Miracle Network Hospital of the winner's choice. Leigh from Hudson, Wisconsin chose Gillette Children's.

"These donations go a long way for helping us coordinate our care model, advance the research and provide care to more and more Minnesota kids every year," Dennis Jolley, vice president of Gillette Children's Hospital, said.

Gillette sees patients from just about everywhere. In 2013, they not only treated kids from every county in Minnesota, but also had at least one patient from every state in the U.S. and 14 different countries.
