Highway 101 In Wayzata Back Open After Water Main Break

WAYZATA, Minn. (WCCO) - County Road 101 in the west Twin Cities metro is back open between McGinty Road and Minnetonka Boulevard Saturday after it had to be shut down due to a water main break.

According to Hennepin County officials, the main broke around 10:30 a.m.

Twelve residents were affected, and the city of Wayzata notified all of them before shutting off the water.

Mike Olstead, an engineer with Hennepin County, says the water main is quite old, and is made of cast iron.

He says it's not affecting service to homes, but has flooded the roadway. People living nearby have to drive a bit to avoid it.

"It's a busy stretch of road," Olstead said.

The City of Wayzata sent crews out to make repairs, and officials said County Road 101 was reopened to traffic at about 5:45 p.m.
