Washington Co. Sheriff Seeks Comment On Body Camera Plan

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Washington County Sheriff's Office says it's seeking comment from the public on its plan to put body cameras on officers.

A forum on the topic is slated to be held Dec. 20 during the regularly scheduled Washington County Board meeting, which starts at 9 a.m.

The sheriff's office says it plans to put the portable recording devices on all its licensed peace officers.

Before implementing its plan, however, state law requires that the department give the public a chance to comment on the policy.

Comments can be made at the board meeting or via mail and email.

Washington County sits east of the Twin Cities metro, along the Wisconsin border.
