Waseca Teen Accused Of Planning School Massacre Pleads Guilty

WASECA, Minn (WCCO) -- A teen accused of planning a school bomb plot pleaded guilty Friday afternoon to possession of an explosive or incendiary device.

John LaDue, 18, of Waseca was arrested last year after police say they found bomb-making materials in a storage locker. They also found his journal, which outlined plans to kill family members and attack Waseca Junior-Senior High School.

The plea agreement would place LaDue in a secure treatment facility for autism spectrum disorder patients, and keep him on probation for five years. He would be transferred to a halfway house, and then back into the community.

He had first been charged in spring 2014 -- at age 17 -- with attempted murder and attempted first-degree damage to property, but those charges were eventually dismissed.

He's scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 19.
