Volunteers Help Grieving Couple Build Memorial Playground

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A North St. Paul couple is dealing with the sudden death of their daughter by giving back to the community.

About 150 volunteers helped Tony and Sarah Zahradka build a playground in memory of their 18-month-old daughter, Janie, who died last fall. Doctors weren't able to say exactly what caused her death.

After six months of collecting donations and drumming up help from across the country, Janie's Memorial Playground was completed and dedicated Saturday in Casey Lake Park.

"After going through such a negative thing, we really want something positive, and we really hope that all the kids in the community can really enjoy this and that we can remember Janie," Tony Zahradka said.

The Zahradkas are expecting a baby boy in the next few days.
