Vikings Release Veteran WR Mike Wallace

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings announced Tuesday that they've released veteran wide receiver Mike Wallace.

The Vikings acquired Wallace in a trade with the Miami Dolphins last March. For what he was being paid, Wallace vastly underperformed. He caught 39 passes for 473 yards and two touchdowns.

Wallace, entering his eighth NFL season, was due $11.5 million this year, which was going to go against the Vikings' salary cap number.

The Vikings also released offensive tackle Austin Wentworth, whose career ended due to injury.
