Vikings' QB Teddy Bridegwater Returns To Practice

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCCO) – So Teddy Bridgewater is back, at least on the practice field. He's still a long way from the game field.

WCCO's Mike Max has more on the team that leads the league in stories on quarterbacks.

The symbolism matters, Teddy Bridgewater, back at practice. More than a year later, again a participant.

"It's exciting for all of us to see him out there. It's a testament to his hard work. It's an incredible feat what he went through 14 months ago to be out there back with us on the practice field today," tight end Kyle Rudolph said.

It's more about his progress than it is about his impact in 2017.

"You know he's been in a very controlled environment for the last 14 months so eventually we've got to work him into some uncontrolled environments," Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said.

But make no mistake, the Vikings are not counting on Bridegwater any time soon, or probably Sam Bradford. They want Case Keenum to know this is his team, at least for the foreseeable future.

He's been 3-2 since he took over. He's done enough to instill confidence, and he's left enough on the table that he's a work in progress.

"No matter what offense I'm in, I'm continually trying to master it. So I always use the mindset that I never feel like I've arrived," Keenum said.

But what if Keenun gets hurt, at least in the next few weeks? Well, then they would turn to Kyle Sloter, the rookie they signed from Denver.

And what an opportunity he's had.to learn from three different veteran quarterbacks.

"I've learned a lot from Case, Teddy and Sam. They've all really helped me in my development and learning the offense. They're familiar with it, so it's been fun to pick their brain a little bit and they've definitely helped my development a lot," Sloter said.

The Vikings and Keenum will host the Baltimore Ravens in a noon kickoff Sunday that you can see right here on WCCO-TV Channel 4. Our pre-game show, live from U.S. Bank Stadium, begins at 10:30 a.m.
