Vikings Looking To Take Home Mindset To Detroit For Victory

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings feel good about a 3-2 start, but not so good about their road history as they head to Detroit to face the Lions on Sunday.

Maybe the Lions are the cure, but as Mike Max found out, there are theories and there is bewilderment in the locker room.

Just last month the Vikings beat Detroit at home. Does that mean they have a book with the winning formual? Maybe, maybe not.

"It's my first time like this playing a team twice this close to each other. Maybe it's a good thing that we know them a little bit and have a little background on them, but maybe they're going to change that up and know that we know about them so they're going to bring some different schemes and tendencies at us," linebacker Eric Kendricks said.

Home has been a safe haven for the Minnesota Vikings, but on the road it's been a different story. Oct. 26, 2014, almost a year to the day was the last time the Vikings won a road game. So what's the problem? Well, nobody knows for sure.

So far this season? O-for-2.

"I have no answer to that," Xavier Rhodes said. "I can't answer that question."

Maybe it's the roar of the hometown fans. Or maybe not.

"I wouldn't think the roar of the crowd is getting on us. It's just poor execution on our end. You know, guys kind of get lackadaisical and don't finish games strong so we definitely have to go out there and hit these guys in the mouth early and often," Captain Munnerlyn said.

Or maybe it's a mindset. Here is an idea, straight from the head coach.

"We've got to make sure we bring our best and like coach said today, we have to play like we do at home," Adam Thielen said. "It's football and it shouldn't be any different."
