Vikings RB Jerick Mckinnon Pays Tribute To Harambe

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Cleats out for Harambe.

Minnesota Vikings running back Jerick Mckinnon's footwear for Sunday's game against the Eagles was full of references to the late Cincinnati Zoo gorilla that became a massive internet meme.

An image of Mckinnon's shoes was posted by the Vikings to Twitter. It shows purple cleats stamped in many places with the words "HARAMBE RIP." There is also an image of the gorilla in profile on the heel.

Harambe was fatally shot in May after a boy climbed into his enclosure. The shooting initially sparked controversy, but fake tributes to Harambe later became an internet meme.

The undefeated Vikings were running with the meme Sunday. Perhaps the spirit of Harambe will help them to a 6-0 record.
