City Will Close Multiple Roads For 1st Vikings Game At New Stadium

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Vikings fans looking forward to their first game at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday may have some trouble getting there.

The city of Minneapolis announced Friday it will close several streets around the stadium.

The city will close Chicago Avenue from Fourth Street to Sixth Street beginning at 6 a.m. Sunday. At 9 a.m., the city will close Fourth Street from Park Avenue to Interstate 35W and Norm McGrew Place from Third Street to Fourth Street.

In addition to the closures, Sixth Street from 11th Avenue to Park Avenue will be temporarily reconfigured to have two westbound lanes.

Sunday marks the Vikings' first game in their new home. They will take on the San Diego Chargers in a preseason match at noon. All streets will reopen about one hour after the game ends.
