Vikings Finalize Purchase Of 185-Acre Land In Eagan

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings could soon be departing from their team headquarters at Winter Park in Eden Prairie.

Team officials announced Tuesday they've finalized the purchase of 185 acres of land in Eagan at the intersection of Dodd Road and Lone Oak Parkway. The location is the former property of Northwest Airlines headquarters.

Vikings Owner and President Mark Wilf said Tuesday while the land purchase is the next step in potentially relocating the team's headquarters and training facility, there are still several steps that have to be taken for the move to be a done deal.

The space would include new headquarters, including retail, housing and a small stadium for youth football games.

Winter Park in Eden Prairie sits on a 15-acre site partially surrounded by wetlands that makes some of the land unusable. The Vikings have employees in three buildings, at Winter Park, in an office tower across the street and in Minneapolis next to the site of their new stadium.
