Vikings Help Build New Playground For St. Paul Elementary
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Team building has plenty of meanings when it comes to putting together a successful NFL team.
For the Vikings, that process carries over from the football field.
On Thursday, players, coaches and staff built a new playground from the ground up at Linwood Monroe Elementary in St. Paul.
Players were divided by position and assigned various projects.
The linemen and linebackers were doing the heavy lifting, while wide receivers and quarterbacks got to paint concrete blocks for a decorative border.
Teddy Bridgewater said he understood why.
"They usually give all the fashionable guys the painting opportunities. If you look at me I'm a pretty hip guy," Bridgewater joked. "But it's always good to come out here. The NFL promotes Play 60, challenging the kids to get out and be active for 60 minutes a day. So to be able to be a part of them eventually playing 60 minutes a day on this playground that we're building is great."
The playground's design is based on children's drawings created at a special design event back in April.
