MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The wait is officially over. The Minnesota Vikings have activated Adrian Peterson to the 53-man roster.

Peterson announced on Dash Radio Friday that he would play in Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Vikings made it official Saturday, waiving defensive tackle Toby Johnson to open up a roster spot for Peterson.

It remains to be seen if Peterson will make a difference for the Vikings' offense. Before his injury, he was averaging only 1.6 yards per carry behind a woeful offensive line. In his absence, the Vikings as a team have averaged only 3.0 yards per carry.
