Viewers Donate 15.8 Million Miles To Make-A-Wish

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Thanks to our WCCO viewers and listeners, Tuesday's Accomplish MN Make-a-Wish drive turned out to be a huge success.

Our goal was to raise 10 million airline miles for Make-a-Wish Minnesota through your donations. Those miles would help get kids to their dream destination -- kids like Caleb, who we surprised on WCCO 4 News at 5 Tuesday afternoon with the news that he's going to Florida to swim with dolphins.

Caleb, who is fighting a life-threatening muscular skeletal condition, spent all day on a scavenger hunt that ended with that big surprise.

WCCO is happy to announce that we not only reached our goal of 10 million miles, but far surpassed it. In fact, as of 11:30 p.m. the drive had reached 15,874,698 miles, shattering the national record.

Make-a-Wish Minnesota needs 75 million flier miles per year to meet their wish demand, and they're well on their way thanks to you. Donations will be accepted through April at Accomplish MN.
