2 captured on camera trying to evade police, crossing I-35E in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- New video from the Minnesota Department of Transportation shows a failed escape and police chase from Friday.

MnDOT cameras captured police catching up to a pair of people that ditched a car on I-35 in St. Paul.

That's when they took off, running across five lanes of traffic, and then jumped the median.

One person made it across the other side of the highway before dropping off the side of the bridge.

According to Eagan police, officers were called to the 3900 block of Cedar Grove Parkway at 6:48 p.m. on the report of a suspicious car. When officers arrived, the suspects fled and officers pursued the car.

Officers ended the pursuit in the area of Highway 13 and Pilot Knob Road. 

A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter was able to locate the suspect vehicle and followed it until they ditched the car at I-35E and Cayuga Street. 

Police say a man and woman were arrested. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
