Victims In Fiery Anoka County Crash ID'd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Anoka County officials have identified the man and the woman killed Tuesday in a fiery crash near Linwood Township.

The crash happened shortly before 9 a.m. on Viking Boulevard. A pickup truck driven by 73-year-old Genie Ann Mohr, of Columbus, crossed the two-lane road's center line and collided with an SUV driven by 64-year-old Curtis Richard Durand, of Mound.

The pickup started on fire, and both drivers died in the crash.

Mohr's great-granddaughter was belted in the back of the burning pickup. A good Samaritan, identified as Thomas Rush, of Grandy, braved the flames and pulled the child to safety.

"I heard her screaming, and you don't really have much to think about," he said. "The kid's alive, the vehicle's on fire — what do you think about? Get her out."

The crash remains under investigation.
