Sheriff: Man Arrested After Firing Gun In Car Chase

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials in southern Minnesota say a 27-year-old man was arrested Wednesday following a car chase where he fired a handgun at vehicle.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office says the car chase was reported just before 11 a.m. on Highway 169 in Vernon Center. Witnesses said a dark-colored car and a silver van were chasing each other.

One of the witnesses told deputies that a man in the car fired a handgun at the van.

Deputies stopped both vehicles, and arrested Donald Terrience Thomas III, of Winnebago, who was booked for second-degree assault with a firearm and illegally possessing a firearm.

Two other men and one woman were also arrested and released as part of the investigation.

No one was injured in the chase, the sheriff's office said. Authorities did not say what prompted the chase.
