Ventura Questions Chris Kyle's Hero Status, Likens US To Nazi Germany

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura is continuing his criticism of the movie and memoir, "American Sniper."

In an interview with Fox News Radio, Ventura disputed that the late U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle was a hero. He then likened the United States to Nazi Germany.

"A hero should have honor. A hero is not how many people you killed. He was obviously a great sniper. He's obviously a great shot. He obviously did his job correctly. And let me fire this one at you: Do you think the Nazi's had heroes?" Ventura said.

The host continued to press Ventura, asking if the United States was analogous to Nazi Germany, which Ventura replied, "yes."

Ventura has previously said he had no interest in seeing 'American Sniper' and called Kyle a liar.

That comment stemmed from a part of Kyle's memoir that claimed he punched the former governor in the face at a bar in 2006.

Ventura filed a defamation lawsuit against Kyle and won nearly $2 million.
