Vanska To Help Orchestra Celebrate Grammy Win

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Former Minnesota Orchestra music director Osmo Vanska will return to Orchestra Hall this month to help the orchestra celebrate its first Grammy win.

Vanska will conduct the orchestra in concerts March 27-29 featuring the same works by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius heard on that Grammy-winning album.

In January, the orchestra won its first Grammy Award for Best Orchestral Performance, for "Sibelius: Symphonies Nos. 1 & 4." Vanska, a native of Finland, and the orchestra recorded the pair of symphonies for the BIS label in 2012.

The orchestra ended a 15-month lockout on Feb 1. Vanska resigned as music director last October after contract talks stalled and the orchestra canceled its concerts at Carnegie Hall.

Ticket prices range from $22 to $84.
