St. Paul Pursuing Transition Options For Silva

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Superintendent Valeria Silva appears to be in the process of leaving St. Paul Public Schools, according to a statement from the board.

The district said Wednesday that it's currently exploring "various transition options" with Silva. What those options are were not specified.

The superintendent had her contract with the district renewed a year ago. She is under contract until Dec. 31, 2018.

Previously, Silva had told school board officials that when her contract was up, she would step down.

She has been with St. Paul Public Schools for 29 years and the superintendent for seven.

Meanwhile, the president of the St. Paul Federation of Teachers, Denise Rodriguez, says she wants to be respectful of the ongoing discussions with Silva and is reserving comment on the matter until it's resolved.
