1 Man Dead In Vadnais Heights Officer-Involved Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One man is dead and four Ramsey County Sheriff's deputies are on leave following a deputy-involved shooting Sunday night.

According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, deputies were on patrol near Highway 61 and Interstate 694 in Vadnais Heights just before 9:30 p.m. when they located a suspicious RV and a car parked on 3250 Fanum Road.

A male was inside the RV and a female was inside the car. The Minnesota BCA says at one point a deputy inside the RV fired their weapon and struck the male occupant.

The male was taken to an area hospital, where he later died. He will be identified later by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.

Four Ramsey County Sheriff's deputies were involved. All of them are OK. They have all been placed on administrative leave, which is typical in a case like this.

Deputies were not wearing body cameras, so investigators are reviewing squad video captured at the scene.

The woman in the car was interviewed and released.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called in to investigate. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

The Minnesota BCA will turn its findings over to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office for review when the investigation is complete.
