Utah Valley University Designs 'Texting Lanes' For Staircases

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you've ever tripped or bumped into someone or something while texting and walking, you're not alone.

That's why Utah Valley University has a new design on its staircases: A walking lane, a fast-speed lane, and a texting slow lane. They're all labeled with neon stripes.

The university says the design got international attention after pics went viral.

The school's creative director says it wasn't really meant to improve safety or direct foot traffic. He says it was an attempt to engage students and liven up the campus.

So, we're looking for your feedback: What do you think of having a texting lane? Or maybe you have an embarrassing texting and walking moment to share. Send you thoughts by going to our Facebook page or by tweeting us at @WCCO.
