US Defense Helicopter Training Continues In Twin Cities

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Residents of downtown Minneapolis may have been alarmed Monday night by the sight of low-flying helicopters near city buildings.

But the police departments of Minneapolis and St. Paul say the public has nothing to fear, as it's all part of a Department of Defense training exercise.

Twin Cities residents can expect to see and hear those choppers several more nights this week, concluding Thursday evening.

The training exercises are in conjunction with a U.S. Special Operations entity. Similar exercises took place in the metro area in 2012.

The exact times and locations of the exercises are not being made public due to security concerns.

Authorities say safety precautions are in place to prevent the public from any risk during the trainings.
