U.S. Bank Stadium Gets Bad Reviews After 1st Concert

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Metallica fans from around the country are rocking at U.S. Bank Stadium Saturday night.

Tickets to the band's Minneapolis concert sold out within minutes of going on sale.

This will be the second concert at the new U.S. Bank Stadium. Country star Luke Bryan was the first Friday night.

"The facility is absolutely out of this world. Nice to see what we got for the money," Mike Foutz, who brought his son to the concert, said.

There were some hiccups before the concert even started. Foutz said they waited about 45 minutes trying to figure out where to go and get to their seats.

"The lines were tough," Foutz said. "There wasn't a lot of signage explaining where we were supposed to go."

On Twitter fans talked also talked about the long lines. One fan called the acoustics "subpar."

Sky high parking rates were also a complaint. Event parking at the Metrodome was around $15, but now it costs $25.

"We did a debrief after the concert pretty late, everybody got together," Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority Chair Michele Kelm-Helgen said.  "Talked about what worked, what didn't work as well."

Kelm-Helgen says stadium officials already added additional directions to find will call for Metallica. She says staff will continue to meet to "fine-tune" any issues.

Fans were quick to say even with a few flaws it was a great concert.

"Everyone was having a really good time and yeah, people were really understanding of the fact that this is our new stadium," Malory Vague, from Woodbury, said. "We're all proud to have it here."

The first preseason game at U.S. Bank Stadium will take place on Aug. 28 against the San Diego Chargers. The NFL regular season home opener will take place between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 18.
