Update: Isaac Kolstad Develops Blood Clot, Family Asks For Prayer

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A former MSU-Mankato football player is showing some signs of recovery after being attacked last month.

Isaac Kolstad's family says Kolstad responded to a command from doctors Tuesday, giving them a thumbs up.

Kolstad has been in a coma since he was punched and kicked in the head during an assault three weeks ago.

The latest update on his CaringBridge site says doctors did discover a blood clot, which could be fatal if it embedded in his heart or lungs.

The condition is called deep vein thrombosis. It occurs when someone is bedridden and blood does not flow properly, creating a clot.

The family is asking for prayers for Kolstad, saying they won't let this hurdle get in the way.
